Explorer Suites are Viking's top-of-the-line staterooms on the Mississippi and range in size from 657 to 1,024 square feet. We have cruised previously with Viking and on the AMA Magna (the double wide on the Danube) The dimensions of the ship are like the Magna at 450 feet long and 75 feet wide but with five floors total as opposed to two. All 193 cabins are river-facing with either French or full step-out balconies. Cabins are spread across seven different categories and range in size from 268 square feet to 1,024 square feet. The 386-guest Viking Mississippi® was “floated out” in Louisiana, marking a major construction milestone and the first time the ship has touched water. It is a thoroughly modern ship and feels crisp and clean like an Ikea store. The public spaces are simply awesome and there is plenty of room for lounging, reading, napping and drinking.
